Three years ago during one of our talks about the Fall 2003 trip, I ask why it  had been decided each well would have a sponsor's name plaque.

Ly (and her spouse Duy, who was able to go on this trip), always has reasons for her actions and these were so good I wanted to share them with all of you.

 "They are named to make connections between people.

Around the region, these wells will be known by the name on the plaque.  People will always know the name of the person who cared enough to pay for them to have clean water.

Second, the donor will be able to see that their money was really spent as promised.  (A picture of each well with plaque is sent to the donor.)

Third, no one in the future can claim the well as their own since everyone in the area will know who donated it.

And the fourth reason comes back to the first - perhaps the name link will cause the donors, their families or their friends to come visit Vietnam."
